I have always enjoyed tinkering and working with circuits. For this project, I assisted my father in turning a Crossbones gauntlet he had already made into a Shocker gauntlet.
I was able to successfully create a lighting package for the gauntlet, utilizing 4 AA's and 1 9V battery, that was entirely self-contained.
With the use of 6 5mm LEDs and 4 strips of electroluminescent tape, I was able to light the gauntlet in a manner that replicated that which was seen on screen.
This project was completed in 2018 at a time when LED strip technology was not what it is today. The use of EL tape was the best solution at the time even if it was cumbersome. This gauntlet prop is a good reminder that technology is always moving forward and that we only have what's available presently to create. Making do with the technology that we have will always drive innovative ideas and thinking outside of the box. The value that this project brought me as a creator was tenfold, as it taught me these important lessons.
