This show was my second installation of a pyromusical nighttime spectacular for my neighborhood Fourth of July. I had previously done many hand fired shows to mismatched and disorganized music. Because of years of inspiration and excitement for the pyro industry, 2 years ago I started doing computer controlled musical pyro shows! My first was a classic firework show with little synchronization or story.
That show was a great success, but it left me wanting to put more story in front of the audience. So I wrote SW: Chronicles of The Creekside!
One Liner: Darth Vader invades the neighborhood to take our fireworks and we put up a fight with our patriotic music and vast arsenal of fireworks!
Firelinx Command Module and Macbook Running Reaper with Timecode
Firelinx Firing Module and 1.4G Pro / Consumer Pyro
Over the course of 5 months, I wrote the story, broke it down into chapters that could be told through pyro, I chose songs and mixed them together, I mixed in SFX, I chose and ordered pyro products, I grouped them into chapters by certain colors, I programmed the show in a 3D pre-vis software (Finale 3D), and created a wiring script and label system. The weekend was sressful with a tight schedule; I had to fly in and utilize help from many friends who I trained and directed on how to safely wire and setup fireworks. Through all of the stressful setup, the team prevailed, and the show was a SUCCESS!

89% of the pyro product fired accurately, 96.5% fired safely, and everything was synchronized perfectly. There was one mishap where ashes burned an e-match circuit that contained the beginning of the finale. Luckily through the design of the show, I planned the finale in parts so that this would not ruin the show experience.
Through surveys after the show, the majority of show guests understood the intended story. But most of all, ALL of the guests left with a smile!
